>Ciao,>SagarWhat about songs copied from other languages within India ?There have been many instances of hindi songs copied fromTamil or Telugu movies...Some popular examples:"Tu tu tu tu tu Tara..." (from Bol Radha Bol) was copied fromthe song "Rakhama kaiya thattu.." in the tamil movie "Thalapathy" (musicby Ilayaraja. (The funny part about this song is that Anand Milindonce said on Doordharshan that this tune was his own !)"O Priya Priya..." (in Dil) copied from the song with the samestarting words in the tamil movie "Ithayathai Thirudathey" (whichwas a dub of "Gitanjali" in telugu) music of original song byIlayaraja. "Koyal se teri bole..." (in Beta) copied from a song in the tamilmovie Enga Chinna Rasa (music by Ilayaraja) There are lots more, but I dont remember them right now...Looks like a lot of copying going on ;-)Gowri Sivaprasad
: Add to this: Before we go overboard and start saying that some of the oldsongs like the above were copied from the south we should remember that in the olden days the reverse was really truetoo, that songs in the south were copied from hindi songsand sometimes some of the movies were remade in south indianlanguages............I would not use the word copied,it would rather be adapted or remade. Sometimes songs basedon the same RAGA will sound similar and so cannot be strictly called copied...i thought we already had enough of this and had all but killed the beast already, don't we have any other ideas? How about checking out the raga on which a given song wascomposed and check whether it was filmed in the appropriatetime setting. For example the song s 'garjat barsat saawanaayo re..' was filmed during the rains and is composed in raga megh malhar...Also if some film song was inYaman, was it filmed during an evening time, or if it isin basant does the song express the various qualitiesof the raga.......I am not able to express exactly whatI mean, but hopefully somebody will pick it up. I willthink more and write again..Hemant: Kuhu Kuhu Bole Koyaliya and
BTW Akshay Kumar seems to be popping up in all the hit songs/moviesFOr example Yeh Dillagi was a hit as was Mohra and hes in both those movies...and from early reviews MAin Khilardi tu Anari is supposedto be good as well which is waht I want to confirm.Speaking of MOHRA I think that song Na KAjare se Dharis GREAT!! Pankhaj Udhas and Sadhna Sargam have great voices andit was a great combo.Incidently what does "NA KAJARE SE DHAR" mean? Thanks in advance.
Any film music director these days cannot even give four goodsongs to a movie ( there are rare exceptions).I bought the following cassettes over the weekend:Main Khiladi Tu Anadi ( Anu Malik). This tape begins with agood sanu -alka duet and then seems to slide downwardscontinuously all the way to appalling!Kismat (Dileep sen Samir Sen) this is a TV show but by ourgreat Ramesh Sippy. Not one song was such that I felt evenclose to refreshing. You have Kumar Sanu's SUR going allover the place and I don't know what to say.....Cheetah (jatin lalit ) I wonder what they were thinking whenthey made these songs. I bought it trusting them because ofKHKN, RBGG, JJWS and KHILADI. What a downward turn. Not onesong on the first side was tolerable. Although the Poornimanumber could be heard once.Hum aapke hain Kaun (Ram Laxman) I will not comment much sincethey used Lata who is heard laboriously going through the songs. Here atleast the lyrics are refreshing but the songs in generaldo not sound refreshing. The first solo on side 1 by Lata would have sounded much better if some one like Sadhna sargam hadsung it or may be Kavita if you want an experienced singer.First side as a whole is above average but second side beginsthe downwards slide.....Now compare this music to 1942 A Love Story. After hearing allthat trash, RD's music sounded so great and extraordinary whenwe all agree that 1942-ALS was not his best creation. Where is the music? that is the question. It seems to me that nobody wants to spend time creating newthings. Evryone wants Microwave chhaap music. Just cut andpaste and serve...If this continues, I don't know what's instore next. It is so saddening that there is no single musicdirector who's music I can wait and look forward to now.Earlier Kalyanji-Anandji, RDB, Rajesh Roshan etc had so muchvariety among them that we used to wait in anticipation fora new movie with their music and our waits were usually rewardedwith some great scores...Hemant
^^^^^^^^^^^^^Yes! One of the best duets of this year is definitely from Bappi.'Tune mere dil chua dil chua aise' from "Paramatma" (*ring Mithun andJuhi) is really superb. Now Bappi is into producing movies. His first film asproducer is going to be "Rock Dancer". He has promised to bring inall the famous (young and current) singers of India in this movie, which will have more than a dozen songs! So, Watch out!> Preetham:)--byesatish#2 fan of the Lahiris :)
It is copied from "Ilaya Nila Pozhigiradhe, Idhayam....".Music by Ilayaraja, of course. I forgot the movie's name, (Payanangal Mudivadhillai?) but it has got a couple of other good songs.Anyway, isn't RDBurman MD for Kalakaar?-- Dev Mannemelade...@netcom.com
Bollywood and music go hand in hand. Our Indian film industry, call them musical or not, very much depends on their songs and playlists. Usually, a song in a movie on average is not more than 4 to 5 minutes. But there are some songs that ditched it and made their songs quite lengthy.
Udit Narayan, Sonu Nigam, Pamela Chopra and Lata Mangeshkar, combined some popular Hindi songs for a 12 minutes long medley for the movie Mujhse Dosti Karogi featuring Hrithik Roshan as Raj Khanna and Kareena Kapoor as Tina Kapoor sangeet ceremony. 2ff7e9595c
